What is a menstrual cycle?
Le period is a cyclical phenomenon that takes place in the female body and which repeats the same pattern. This phenomenon is governed by hormones: l'hormone follicle-stimulating (FSH) andhormone luteinizing (LH). It has several phases. When the last phase takes place, the cycle then begins again. And this automatically puberty to menopause.
A menstrual cycle usually lasts 28 days on average. Sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more, it's not an exact science. The menstrual cycle can change and be disrupted by external events. Emotional shock, stress, a simple flu or weight gain or loss can disrupt the cycle, shorten or lengthen it.
The menstrual cycle takes place to prepare the uterus for a potential fertilization of the egg. In other words, the woman's body is preparing to develop an embryo. If fertilization does not occur, the cycle starts again with the arrival of new periods.
